2. Dr. Aminah Mermer, Assistant professor at Swarthmore College, Philadelphia

Both have presented in national and international meetings regarding the connection between Sceince and the Quraan as well as interpreting the names of ALLAH and comparative religious studies.

Elections

Insh'Allah we will have elections this Sunday the 27th April 2008. Here is a list of ISCV members who are eligible to vote.

ISCV Potluck this Saturday

Dear Brothers & Sisters

Assalaamu’Alaykum

Please plan to be with your Muslim brothers and sisters for the ISCV potluck on Saturday, 3/29/08, beginning as of 3:00 pm at Pen Park, InshaAllah. There will be soccer for all to play and enjoy!

Meat is being provided for grilling but we need at least 3 grills. The reason for that being is that the shelters are not reserved until April 1st. So, it is a first-come, first-serve basis to occupy the shelters. If we do not get a shelter, we will not be able to use the shelter grills!

Please bring side dishes to share, such as; rice, salads, veggies, and desserts. Plates, utensils etc. will be provided.

Also please bring one bottle of soda. In order that we have a variety of drinks, I am suggesting that all with the zip codes 22902 and 22903 bring Pepsi products and those with 22901 and other zip codes bring Coke products! JAK.

IMPACT Action Assembly 2008

This year's proposals address the following community crises:

1) The lack of access to dental care, both emergency and restorative, for low-income uninsured adults, and

2) Affordable housing opportunities for families earning 0-30% AMI (Area Median Income), or under 20K per year.

In attendance will be public officials and other persons who have been identified as those with the power to implement the changes identified by IMPACT's research committes. We will be respectfully seeking commitments to concrete proposals for a greater degree of justice in housing & health care!

As Muslims, we are called to work for social justice. Our presence at this Assembly is VERY important as a way for us to translate our beliefs into meaningful action. Since the success of this Direct Action effort depends on numbers, please invite family, friends, & co-workers - everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
